What is ISO 45001?
ISO 45001 is an international standard that specifies the requirements for Occupational Health and Safety Management (OHS) Systems. The current version of ISO 45001 was released in March 2018. This Standard replaces OHSAS 18001:2007 and AS/NZS 4801:2001.
The objective of this standard is to provide a framework for managing OHS risks and opportunities, eliminating hazards and minimising OHS risks by taking effective preventive actions, with an outcome to prevent work related injury and ill health to workers and to provide safe working environments.
ISO 45001 is relevant to all organizations, regardless of size, location, sector, or industry.
Implementing a OHS management system in line with ISO 45001 will provide a systematic approach to enable an organisation to manage its OHS risks and continually improve its OHS performance.
